Conestoga Solar owner Dave Walden gets Ontario Industrial Roofing Contractors Award of Merit
TORONTO
The Ontario Industrial Roofing Contractors Association (OIRCA) has announced that the inaugural winner of the association’s Award of Merit is Dave Walden, the former owner of Conestoga Roofing & Sheet Metal Ltd. of Cambridge, Ontario.
He is currently the owner of Conestoga Solar Inc., also based in Cambridge.
Last year the association announced that a new membership award had been established to recognize an individual from a member company who has made a significant contribution to the OIRCA or the greater roofing industry in this province.
The candidate may have contributed over an entire career or been responsible for one particular project or event that proved substantial or consequential to the industry.
Walden served the association as a past president, a member of the board of directors and a member of various committees, most notably the technical one, including serving as its chair.
Walden’s unrelenting desire to see an OIRCA training centre built in the province, along with his personal and financial commitment to see it become a reality, make him “the obvious choice for first recipient of the award” said the association in a statement.
The award will be presented at the OIRCA’s annual general meeting to be held on Jan. 26 at the Old Mill in Toronto.
