Boulanger joins St. Romuald, Quebec steel constructor Supermétal
LEDUC, ALTA.
Structural steel construction company, Supermétal, has announced the arrival of Sylvie Boulanger as vice-president, technical marketing, a highly strategic function combining business development and innovation. Boulanger has been Quebec Regional Manager of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) for the past 10 years.
“Sylvie Boulanger possesses a state-of-the-art expertise in creative steel applications. Her contribution will allow us to consolidate our growth and seize new business opportunities throughout North America,” said Jean-François Blouin, Supermétal’s President and CEO.
With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Boulanger has an impressive academic background. She obtained her bachelors, masters and doctorate in civil and structural engineering from the University of Alberta (Edmonton), the University of California (Berkeley) and from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Lausanne) in Switzerland, respectively.
In addition, she has been a member of several Canadian and North American industry committees, including the CISC Committee on Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel, the North American Steel Construction Conference planning committee and the AISI Construction Sustainability Task Group. She has also written for CISC’s Advantage Steel Magazine and AISC’s Modern Steel Construction.
“I am joining Supermétal because I admire and respect its team building and innovative culture. Steel construction has a huge potential in North America and in my view, no company is better positioned than Supermétal to grow successfully in such an environment and become a key industry leader,” said Boulanger.
Supermétal is a Canadian manufacturer that operates plants in Alberta, Quebec and South Carolina, serving mainly North American clientele. The company is based in Saint-Romuald, Quebec and employs 600 people.
