Four Canadian architectural experts have been appointed Members of the Order of Canada, Governor General David Johnston recently announced.
The Order of Canada recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to community and service to the nation. The 2012 appointees include two Companions (C.C.), 33 Officers (O.C.) and 56 Members (C.M.).
Brigitte Shim and A. Howard Sutcliffe of Toronto have been appointed “for their contributions as architects designing sophisticated structures that represent the best in Canadian design to the world.”
Shim-Sutcliffe Architects Inc. has won multiple design awards including Governor General’s awards and medals for architecture. Their public works, parks and residences grace both Canada and the United States.
James K. M. Cheng of Vancouver has been appointed for “helping to develop the Vancouver style of architecture, influencing the face of a city and a generation of Canadian architects.”
