Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers to hold multiple equipment auctions throughout Ontario
Upcoming unreserved auctions to be held in Toronto, Cargill, London and
Ottawa
TORONTO, Aug. 6 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA),
the world's largest industrial auctioneer, has experienced strong growth in
Ontario to date in 2009 and will conduct four upcoming unreserved public
equipment auctions in the province in September and October 2009 in Toronto
(Bolton), Cargill, London and Ottawa.
"The equipment market in Ontario has been very active this year and
continues to keep Ritchie Bros. quite busy," said Brian Dykstra, Regional
Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "During an economy like the one we're
currently experiencing, many of our customers need to sell their equipment.
But business in the construction industry continues, and many of our customers
also need to buy equipment - and they need it right now for projects on the
go."
Ritchie Bros. expanded its operations in Ontario earlier in 2009 with the
grand opening of a new permanent auction site in London, Ontario on June 24,
2009. Another agricultural equipment auction will be conducted at the London
site on September 18, 2009.
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers conducted its first equipment auction in
Toronto in 1971 and now holds up to five regular auctions per year at its
Toronto permanent auction site near Bolton. Each auction held at the site
generates anywhere from 70 to 150 temporary part-time jobs in addition to the
10 permanent staff Ritchie Bros. employs on-site at its Bolton location.
"We're in hiring mode right now in Ontario and around the world because
we've been expanding," adds Dykstra.
The next equipment auction in Toronto will take place on Tuesday,
September 15 and Wednesday, September 16, 2009. The auction already features
more than 500 heavy equipment and transportation items from nearly 100 owners.
Two other upcoming auctions taking place in Ontario include a complete
dispersal of sawmill equipment and assets for Bruce County Sawing and Lumber
Ltd. in Cargill on September 22, 2009 and an industrial equipment auction in
Ottawa on October 6, 2009 - the first auction conducted by Ritchie Bros. there
in 16 years.
Equipment consignments are being accepted for each auction right now.
Owners interested in selling their equipment in any of Ritchie Bros. upcoming
Ontario auctions can contact the Toronto auction site. Items in each auction
will be sold on auction day unreserved to the highest bidders with no minimum
bids or reserve prices.
