TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 27, 2010) -

ATTENTION News, Real Estate, Photo/Assignment Editors

In a unique public ceremony in the heart of downtown Toronto, Tribute Communities will honour a Toronto landmark's rich heritage with a Cornerstone Ceremony on Wednesday, September 1.

Tribute Communities president, Al Libfeld together with Lieutenant Colonel Jim Breithaupt, president of the Royal Canadian Military Institute (RCMI), will remove two cornerstones from the original RCMI building at 426 University Avenue. A Quarter Guard of soldiers from the Toronto Scottish Regiment and the Governor General's Horse Guards will participate in the ceremony.

The two original cornerstones dating from 1907, and a new cornerstone, will be laid into this new building set to begin construction this September. Officials from both Tribute Communities and the RCMI will watch the cornerstone removal with great interest as it was custom in the early 1900's to include time capsules for posterity.

The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the nearby University Club at 380 University Avenue.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: The Royal Canadian Military Institute, 426 University Avenue (University and Dundas)

WHAT: Removal and dedication of cornerstones for the new Residences at RCMI Condominium and the Royal Canadian Military Institute
