Morrison Copper-Gold Project - Federal Funding Awarded to Participate in the Environmental Assessment

OTTAWA, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has awarded $10,000 to the Métis Nation BC to support its participation in the federal environmental assessment of the proposed Morrison Copper-Gold Project, in British Columbia.

This funding is awarded through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency and is being provided to assist the recipient's participation in upcoming steps in the comprehensive study process, including the review of the comprehensive study report.

A funding review committee, independent of the environmental assessment process, was established to examine the requests for funding for this project. The committee's report, along with further information on the project, is available on the Agency's website at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca, in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, under reference number 09-03-48445.

Pacific Booker Minerals Inc. is proposing the construction and operation of an open pit copper-gold-molybdenum mine, located approximately 65 km northeast of Smithers and 35 km north of the Village of Granisle, British Columbia. The proposed ore production rate will be 30,000 tonnes per day over a minimum 21 year operation period.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency administers the federal environmental assessment process, which identifies the environmental effects of proposed projects and measures to address those effects, in support of sustainable development.
