Get out of the city, get onto the Bruce Trail for the OPG Fall Biodiversity Hikes September 12, September 26, October 3

Hike Day One: Sunday, September 12

TORONTO, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - Families, children, hikers and nature lovers, join us on Sunday, Sept. 12, to kick off the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Fall Biodiversity Hikes on the Bruce Trail - a series of themed, guided walks taking place this fall along the Niagara Escarpment. Each hike will reveal the extraordinary variety of life along the Trail. Learn about the remarkable species and habitats of the Escarpment and why conserving biodiversity is so important.


WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 (Day One)
Morning and afternoon hike times: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
  Note: The OPG Fall Biodiversity Hikes continue with Hike Day Two on Sunday, Sept. 26 and Hike Day Three: Sunday, Oct. 3

WHAT: OPG Fall Biodiversity Hikes Series:
September 12, September 26, October 3
- 2-hour guided hikes suitable for all ages
- Learn about the tremendous variety of life along the Niagara Escarpment
  Hike Highlights:

At Grindstone Creek: “Carolinian Creeks, Critters and Communities”
- At McNally Property: “Escarpment Life Great and Small”
- At Speyside Sanctuary: “Wonders of Wetlands and Woods”
- At Hemlock Ridges: “Secrets of the Hemlock Forest”

WHERE: Four locations on the Bruce Trail (September 12 & 26):
Grindstone Creek - Waterdown
McNally Property - Waterdown
Speyside Sanctuary – Halton Hills
Hemlock Ridges – Mono
  Nine locations on the Bruce Trail (October 3) To be announced.
