Town of Mount Royal, Quebec launches library expansion project

The Town of Mount Royal (TMR), Quebec officially launched construction of an expansion and renovation of the Reginald J. P. Dawson Library, about nine kilometers west of downtown Montreal.

The official launch took place Monday when Pierre Arcand, the Quebec Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks, announced a grant from the province. The $1.1 million grant, from the department of culture, communication and status of women, will “significantly reduce” the cost to the municipality, the TMR government announced in a press release.

The town stated in a press release Monday that Arcand was acting in his capacity as the Liberal Member of National Assembly for Mont-Royal and standing in for Culture, Communications and Status of Women Minister Christine St. Pierre.

TMR, with a population of nearly 20,000, is almost surrounded by the City of Montreal but is not one of its 19 boroughs, or arrondissements.
